So, I begged my midwife to consider a sweep despite my hesitations for any interventions. We needed to convince this baby to be born or to stay put for a few more days. My cervix still clamps up when I think of the pain of having the membrane swept. It was not a comfortable experience and definitely felt yuck, and weird as she ran her finger to separate the membranes of the amniotic sac. This is something, as a mom to another mom I would not recommend without informed consent and knowing that it doesn’t always result in a baby being born 14 hours later, like in my scenario. I didn’t find it to be any more uncomfortable than a regular cervical exam – really not bad! My doctor swept my membranes with my first baby at 39 weeks. I didn’t have the baby until 10 days later, though, so it didn’t work to speed things up at all. I would recommend waiting until your due date or later to make sure the baby is really ready to come out! Maygen, from Sneakers & Lipstick I think 39 weeks may have been too early for the sweeping to be effective. I had my membranes swept not once, not twice, but *four times* as the 42 week mark crept up and I checked natural induction methods off my extensive list. I eventually had my baby boy after days of labor and who knows if the sweeps were effective or if it was the jumping jacks, spicy foods, acupuncture, or living in downward dog for days on end ! Kristen, from Arrows and Applesauce It pinches, it’s uncomfortable, and every time it lead to cramping I thought had to be labor but was not. I had it done on my due date with my third.

The hands will first move to indicate the light level, then return to normal time, before the second hand move to the eight-second position (indicating ‘RX-GPS’), at which point you release the button and satellite GPS signal reception commences. With the crown in the closed position, press and hold the upper right button for 4 to 5 seconds. The ideal scenario is to be outdoors, with an unobstructed view of the sky (tall buildings and trees may interfere with reception, as will electronic interference and other atmospheric conditions), and the watch positioned away from your body with the dial pointing straight upward toward the sky rather than at an angle. I recently had a chance to wear the watch for a few weeks and learn how exactly its technology worked, and am pleased to report that using the Citizen Satellite Wave World Time GPS is quite easy and intuitive, despite the complexity of its multiple functions.įirst off, you’ll want to adjust your time and calendar settings using the GPS reception. As those familiar with Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology are well aware, the watch’s movement is powered by light on a full charge, this watch should not need recharging for two years. The watch requires as little as three seconds (that’s one full second less than the model that debuted in 2013) to receive a GPS signal from satellites and can receive them in 27 cities throughout 40 of the world’s time zones. The World Time GPS, which combines the record-setting reception time with the ability to receive signals worldwide, is a more affordable alternative to the F900, as it lacks a chronograph but also incorporates a perpetual calendar and a power-reserve indicator. The Citizen Satellite Wave World Time GPS represents, according to the brand, “a new level” of timekeeping technology, the latest in a parade of world-firsts that includes 2013’s Satellite Wave Air (the first light-powered satellite-timekeeping watch in a full metal case), 2014’s Satellite Wave F100 (the thinnest such watch ever, with the fastest GPS reception time), and the Satellite Wave F900, launched simultaneously with the World Time GPS model at Baselworld 2015, which includes a chronograph function. Last year, the Japanese brand introduced the Citizen Satellite Wave World Timer GPS, an ideal timepiece for frequent travelers. Citizen launched the original Eco-Drive Satellite Wave, the first watch to feature light-powered satellite timekeeping, in 2011, and has released updated versions with new innovations in the years since. As the stock curve has higher highs and lower lows, it had more risk (as measured by standard deviation) than the mutual fund.If you look at the time period between where the two curves cross, the stock and the mutual fund had identical performance. If you observe the above, there are two conclusions you can draw: Second, the line associated with the individual stock has higher highs and lower lows. Now over lay it with the 25 year performance of an S&P 500 index mutual fund. Head over to Yahoo and pull up the 25 year performance of the stock. Assume you are considering purchasing a large cap stock. There is another exercise that you can do that illustrates the risks of individual equity ownership very well in a number of cases. And every seller thinks that he is smarter than every buyer. Every buyer thinks he is smarter than every seller. And they both think they got a screaming deal. Guess what? For every one of the guys that you are following that bought yesterday, somewhere there’s another equally well educated guy that sold. Yeah, I know the counter argument: I’m not smarter than them, I’m using them/following what they are doing. Do you really think that you are smarter than all of them? There are countless, highly educated, well-funded, totally focused, investment professionals spending well over 40 hours a week evaluating the prospects of those same individual stocks that you are about to buy. Will you always do better by going the mutual fund route? ABSOLUTELY NOT! However, consider this. Like small caps? Buy a small cap fund versus 10 to 12 small cap companies. If you like the tech space, my preference would be to buy a tech mutual fund versus 2-3 tech companies. In my opinion, the vast majority of investors are better off purchasing COLLECTIONS of companies via mutual funds. If is for this reason that I am not a proponent of purchasing individual equities. In my opinion, most people are not sufficiently informed of the operating principles of that company and also do not fully understand the risk they are assuming. In both of these periods the overall stock market suffered vis-à-vis the bankruptcy of numerous individual businesses.īuying an individual stock means that you are assuming the business risk associated with that company. Remember to tech boom back in 2000? How about 2008? Both of these periods introduced massive, unanticipated business risk. While the examples that I cited above were driven by the shortcomings of individuals within the companies, there are countless examples of companies that suffered the same fate due to external influences. In today’s world, business risks can arise out of thin air much more quickly than in the past. By business risk I am referring to the uncertainty of the environment that the company operates within. And that is the primary reason that, in my opinion, individual stock ownership should be avoided.Įvery company is exposed to business risk. And most people do not know the answers either. Will Volkswagen follow the same path as the above companies?įor both of the above questions, I do not know the answer.Do you really know anything about the management of the individual stocks that you own?.And even though the financial gurus were continually monitoring and interacting with the companies, they (the gurus) missed these inappropriate behaviors. The companies suffered these falls due to the inappropriate behaviors of individuals inside the company. This IN SPITE of the financial gurus singing the praises of these companies. However, each and every one of them fell from their lofty position. Each and every one of these companies was a darling of the stock market at some point in time. The stock market responded swiftly with Volkswagen stock down almost 25% in a single day.įor those with a short memory, try googling Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, or Bearn Sterns. On Friday, Septemthe news broke that Volkswagen had intentionally modified the computers in over 500,000 vehicles to reflect lower levels of harmful emissions. Bear with me as I make a case on why buying INDIVIDUAL stocks is normally not a good idea… No doubt there will be a few folks that read the above headline and immediately conclude that I have to be crazy. In addition, additional racket platforms have appeared. Among them are a gravity ball and lightning. Improvements have been added to 20 common bonuses. The game features 150 levels from the original, plus new zones adapted for wide monitors. For those who do not like innovations, there is a classic mode, where the developers left everything as before. The modern adaptation has acquired the ability to save anywhere in order to then continue the game without starting the rink anew. And the developers scattered the items at the levels, which can be collected if desired for a better account. The creators have added an editor that allows you to create your own maps and upload others. Offers DLCs (3) Packs (1) About Price History Similar Games Back To Top. The stage is completed when there are no cubes left on the field.ĭX-Ball 2 is a reissue timed to coincide with its 20th anniversary since its release. At the same time, it is important not to let him fall into the abyss. You need to direct the ball so that it knocks out blocks. The user controls the platform and hits the ball with it. The gameplay here is traditional for games of this genre. It’s not hard to play but it has its annoying moments but most importantly it’s colorful and entertaining.DX-Ball 2 refers to arkanoid. When it comes to casual arcade games, DX-Ball is a great example. Apart from the good stuff, the blocks you destroy can also release powerups that can mess up your game if you don’t avoid them. There are 18 powerups to collect and they can split your ball into three pieces, convert it into a fireball, make it move faster, increase the size of your paddle and so on. Since watching a ball move at an average speed hitting one or two blocks every 10 seconds might make you yawn, DX-Ball introduces powerups which serve a variety of purposes. Powerups to help you along or make things worseĭX-Ball aims to make things interesting from the beginning and keeps them that way until you complete the game. Some blocks are initially indestructible and others simply can’t be hit out of pure bad luck because the ball might not follow the trajectory you need it to. There are blocks that need a single hit to be removed while others take more, or even require hitting from a certain angle. Im also supporting other indie developers, so im hosting this little tournament in my game called Bricker - rewards are 3 games. Sounds simple enough and it actually is, until the level structure start to become more complex. The goal of the game is to clear the screen of existing blocks that come in various colors and forms using a ball which you strike with a paddle that can only move on a horizontal axis. It’s based on a very simple principle and offers tons of fun for those who enjoy this genre thanks to its large number of levels, each one unique and more challenging than the previous. DX-Ball is one of the most popular ball-and-paddle arcade games ever made for PC. |
